It takes a brave bride to stand on a big rock in the middle of Dartmoor in a bracing (to say the least) March wind with nothing on but a wedding dress.

When it comes to a Post Wedding Shoot it can be as adventurous or as simple as you want, we personally quite like the more adventurous sorts of shoots and we have a number coming soon involving fire and a large amount of water so we can really Trash the Dress!

The beauty of the Post Wedding Shoot is that there are some many different options for creativity open to you & the photographer.

If you are interested in getting back in your dress for one of these shoots then please get in contact, do not worry if you are not sure what sort of shoot you want as we have plenty of ideas!

Also please remember that these sort of shoots do not have to 'trash the dress' specifically & that they we have loan dress for you to use if you wish.

It's Spring - So time for a flurry of Pre Wedding Shoots

The Pre Wedding Shoot is a really nice chance to meet with your photographer & get to know each other.

You can do this sort of shoot in the studio, in your own home or now that the weather is improving get out to one of your favourite locations for some lovely images of just the two of you.

We can spend some time talking about each other as well as the sort of photography that you would like, take some photos & even do a bit of planning for the day - although best to leave this for a specific planning meeting but it does hurt to start sharing some ideas.

What you do with the images is up to you, we can do some prints, a variety of bespoke album options or these photos may find their way in to your final Wedding Album - the choice is ultimately yours.

Because we think that the Pre Wedding Shoot is an essential part of getting to know your photographer it is included for FREE with all our bookings.

Mother & Baby - A Calm & Intimate Portrait

Whether still a bump or a tiny little baby, we can make sure that this magical time is captured & treasured before all too quickly the sleepness nights are forgotten & the moment has passed.

This sort of shoot is a very calm & intimate experience for the mother & bump/baby, but dads are positively encouraged to be involved if they wish.

The new 2009 Albums are now online in the Albums Section of the main website with a range of sample pages also.

A large amount of time has been put in to creating these albums exclusively for Dartmoor Studios, each album is then designed from scratch to produce a completely unique product for each couple.

We do not use templates or lower cost third party designers - each album receives the utmost attention to detail & perfection.

Sadly the the images do not do them justice but we are sure when you feel the quality & weight of the albums you will agree.

Giving Something Back...

Most of us like to give something back to the community and where we can, we certainly like to help with a charity shoot or event, however recently I was asked to train a group of scouts to a level of photography that they would be able to gain their Photographer Badge. That would be a challenge I thought, but would be fun to put on the Blog.

Having read the scope of learning the Scout Masters were certainly not giving the badge away and I set to work on a presentation to deliver the basic controls, types of cameras, composition etc. all the way up to controlling depth of field and creative shutter speeds... was quite a night!

The boys did fantastically well to take in all the info and I look forward to seeing the results of their project work when I go back to assess it in a couple of weeks time. Anyway good luck with the images lads.

While the rest of the country is covered in snow it was beautiful & sunny down here in Plymouth, so we got out in the street.

A Post Wedding Shoot does not need a specifically glamorous or extreme location, even though we do like to do those, it can take place in a simple urban location.

Mix one bride in a stunning Maggie Sottero dress, a creative photographer & old cobbled street - you have an interesting & unique version of this popular wedding option.
